Responsibilities
- Provide instruction within the Automotive Technician program using the Blackboard learning management system in a lab environment.
- Lead courses that engage and prepare students for careers in their area of study.
- Stay current with industry needs and ensure graduate outcomes meet workplace expectations.
- Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine the effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
- Create a respectful and multicultural classroom/lab environment.
- Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.
- Identify students needing assistance and refer them to Student Services.
- Collaborate with Student Services and the Academic Support Division staff to help students adjust to the learning environment.
- Stay current on teaching field developments to deliver instruction for various learning styles, utilize the latest technology, and employ alternative delivery methods.
- Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught.
- Affirm college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
- Hold weekly office hours and perform other duties to meet student, employer, and college needs.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Automotive, Diesel, Transportation, or related field (or a Degree Plan to achieve within 3 years of hire).
- Two years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience in an automotive service technician or related position, with at least one year (2,000 hours) within 5 years prior to the date of hire.
- One year (2,000 hours) of recent related experience may be waived if the applicant has at least 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within 5 years of the date of hire.
