About the role
Our nonprofit client is seeking a Part-Time Audit Support Associate to assist with a critical audit preparation project. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys project-based work and wants to make a meaningful impact while building experience in audit support and nonprofit accounting. This assignment will focus on preparing documentation for multiple fiscal year audits, with the potential for additional part-time work if the project is successful.
Responsibilities
- Organize and locate paper and electronic accounting records to support audit requests
- Trace transactions and supporting documentation in QuickBooks
- Build and maintain Excel spreadsheets to summarize audit information
- Match payroll records, timesheets, invoices, and supporting documentation for audit samples
- Assist with cost allocations and simple percentage calculations for payroll and grant-funded expenses
- Reconcile General Ledger activity to supporting documentation
- Identify missing or incomplete documentation and help resolve discrepancies
- Maintain organized audit files for current and future reference
Requirements
- Bookkeeping or accounting experience with a solid understanding of accounting principles
- Experience using QuickBooks
- Intermediate Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, and basic formulas
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Comfortable working with both paper and electronic filing systems
- Ability to work independently on a project with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous audit support experience
- Experience in nonprofit, grant-funded, or government-funded organizations
- Familiarity with project or grant cost allocations
- Experience with Bill.com is a plus
- Recent accounting graduates or students with relevant bookkeeping knowledge are encouraged to apply
