Part-time Associate - 817 Torrance

About the role

The Part-time Associate at Smart & Final 817 Torrance is a crucial member of the store operations team. This position offers an opportunity to provide excellent customer service while contributing to the community.

Responsibilities

• Read and write English, interact with general public and co-workers
• Interpret product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos
• Write simple correspondence
• Present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
• Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds
• Maintain a store section as assigned, including ordering, receiving, and stocking merchandise, ensuring proper pricing, checking product date codes, and stocking shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays, and refrigerated/frozen cases
• Prepare perishable products for sale
• Set up advertising/promotional displays
• Review invoices/bills for accuracy
• Clean and maintain sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas of the store and parking lot as directed by store management
• Operate a cash register, receive payment from customers, make change or process check/charge/debit transactions, process cash and/or credit refunds, verify customer eligibility for alcohol sales, offer friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous assistance to customers, assist customers with loading purchases into their vehicles, perform basic bookkeeping duties, record lost/damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate tools

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos
• Basic PC/Outlook skills
• Retail Management Certificate (preferred)
