Part Time Assistant Wrestling Coach

Reports to and assists the Head Coach in directing activities for the wrestling program within NCAA, RMAC, and Colorado School of Mines policies, guidelines, and procedures. Focuses on the athletic and academic development of student-athletes while prioritizing their welfare.

Responsibilities

• Coaching
  • Assist the head coach in coaching and training the wrestling team, conducting all in-season and out-of-season sessions as deemed necessary.
  • Assist with filming and technique instruction.
  • Travel to all competitions, both in-state and out-of-state when able.
• Administrative
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations of the NCAA, RMAC, and Colorado School of Mines.
  • Handle administrative duties such as travel plans, compliance logs, and on-campus visits.
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Successfully complete all required NCAA coach’s curriculum and trainings.
• Recruiting
  • Collaborate on annual and long-term recruiting strategies reflecting the University, Department, and program values.
  • Assist the head coach in recruiting quality student-athletes who meet Colorado School of Mines admissions qualifications and can compete at the NCAA level.
  • Maintain good relations with parents of prospective and current student-athletes.
  • Respond to all recruiting communications in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Travel for recruiting when necessary.
• Other
  • Demonstrate a cooperative attitude towards all sports in the intercollegiate program.
  • Willingness to work odd hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in coaching wrestling at a competitive level.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage stressful situations.
• Certifications and Licenses
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with coaches, student-athletes, athletics administration, and prospective student-athletes and their families.
• Physical Requirements
  • Typical physical activity of coaching roles: standing for long periods, walking, occasional running, long workdays, etc.
  • Ability to perform job duties in inclement weather.
