Part-Time Assistant Track and Field Coach

About the role

Penn State Scranton, a member of the Penn State University Athletic Conference, is seeking a Part‑Time Track and Field Assistant Coach for the Department of Athletics. The Assistant Coach will work under the head coach to prepare practices, develop athletes, coach on game days, recruit, and supervise player personnel. The position is primarily in‑season with recruiting duties in the off‑season and requires strict adherence to PSUAC, USCAA, and NCAA Division III rules.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and conduct track and field practice sessions.
• Develop athletes’ skills and performance.
• Coach athletes during competitions and game days.
• Recruit prospective student‑athletes during the off‑season.
• Supervise player personnel under the direction of the head coach.
• Ensure compliance with PSUAC, USCAA, and NCAA Division III regulations.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of track and field; previous coaching experience preferred.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle as part of job duties; valid driver’s license and successful motor vehicle records check required.
• Completion of required background checks and clearances:
  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
  • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check
• Commitment to the university’s policies and standards for athletics and student safety.
