Part-time position for a PA Educator to provide excellence in teaching, support program curriculum, and contribute to the ongoing ARC-PA accreditation process. The role involves faculty rank as Assistant Professor within the MPAS program, under the direction of the MPAS Program Director.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and revise:
    • the mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program
    • the program curriculum and course content
    • course goals, learning outcomes, and instructional objectives
  • Select applicants for admission to the PA program
  • Provide student instruction to ensure acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies required for entry into the profession
  • Evaluate student performance, including:
    • assessing and supervising progress in achieving competencies and fulfilling course goals
    • academic counseling and professionalism mentoring
  • Participate in Student Success Committee activities, including assuring remedial instruction availability
  • Assist with continuous programmatic review and analysis to improve instructional and program quality
  • Implement the program’s strategic plan
  • Adhere to University goals, standards, policies, ARC-PA Standards, and ARC-PA policies
  • As Principal Faculty:
    • Teach at least 9 credit hours annually per 12-month contract
    • Post and maintain 5 office hours per week
    • Avoid participating as health care providers for students, except in emergencies
    • Attend faculty meetings and participate in faculty committees, including program strategic plan and accreditation
    • Promote the PA program and profession to potential students and the community
    • Contribute to Trine University’s community through scholarship and service (e.g., publications, presentations, conferences, seminars)
    • Perform additional duties as prescribed by the Program Director, Dean, or Vice President for the College of Health Professions

Requirements

  • Qualified through academic preparation and/or experience to teach assigned subjects
  • One of the following:
    • A physician assistant with a master’s degree (doctoral-level preferred), current NCCPA certification, and eligibility for licensure in Indiana (a bachelor’s degree may be considered based on work experience)
    • A Certified Nurse Practitioner with graduate-level teaching experience and a minimum of two years of clinical experience
    • A physician with current eligibility or unrestricted license as an allopathic or osteopathic physician in Indiana, certified by an ABMS or AOA-approved specialty board
    • A PhD basic scientist or other academic/doctoral qualifications with relevant academic/clinical experience
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience
  • Minimum of two years of higher education experience
  • Knowledge of the PA profession and ability to advocate for the PA program and profession
  • Must maintain licensure in the state of Indiana
