About the role

The PT Assistant Maintenance Controller assists the Associate Director of Operations Resource Management (ADORM) to track and comply with all maintenance events and discrepancies for Liberty owned and operated aircraft. This position supports flight training and ensures a high-quality, safe student training experience during LUSOA's flight operations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Freedom Aviation and LUSOA dispatch for unscheduled maintenance events when contract MX is not onsite.
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance events with ADORM.
  • Communicate with flight crews about discrepancies at home base and during cross-country flights.
  • Certify the accuracy of all maintenance logbook entries.
  • Track and validate deferred maintenance items.
  • Coordinate with Supervisor of Flight, Dispatch, and Scheduling at the Integrated Operations Center.
  • Complete preflight inspections for priority training events like FAA check rides.
  • Conduct aircraft detailing and minor maintenance activities to improve fleet appearance and functionality.

Qualifications and Credentials

  • College degree or acceptable work experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • Airframe and Powerplant Certificate or FAA certifications.

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Public communication skills for professional representation of Liberty University.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially with ETA and RMS.
  • Intuitive problem-solving ability.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods, perform deskwork, and type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

The majority of job duties will be performed in the LUSOA Flight Operations Center. This involves data entry, communication with Dispatch, and coordination of maintenance with Freedom Aviation. The Maintenance Controller will move around the facility while coordinating maintenance.

Driving Requirements

There is a possibility of using one’s personal vehicle to travel between airport facilities. A valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance are required.

Pay Range

$21.63 - $28.85
