Part-Time As Needed Archaeological Technician

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects.
• Participate in pre-task planning.
• Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.
• Assist with archaeological fieldwork, including survey, excavation, artifact collection, and basic documentation.
• Conduct archaeological surveys or excavations using common archaeological tools and methods under the supervision of a Crew Chief or higher.
• Identify artifacts and basic stratigraphy, recording information on standardized forms.
• Assist more senior staff with other tasks as needed.
• Maintain equipment.
• Communicate basic information to Crew Chief or Archaeologist.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of archaeological methods and techniques.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and travel to remote locations.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in archaeological fieldwork.
• Experience with archaeological survey and excavation techniques.
• Basic knowledge of GIS and digital mapping software.
