Part-Time After-School Nanny Job in Kirkland, WA | School-Year Childcare Position

About the Role

We are a warm, easygoing family in Kirkland looking for an engaging after-school nanny to support our two school-age children throughout the school year. Our family values quality time together, sharing meals around the table, and creating opportunities to connect through conversation, games, and family activities. We are looking for someone who can become a positive role model, help encourage healthy routines, and bring fresh ideas that inspire our children to stay active and engaged beyond screens. This position is a wonderful opportunity for a nanny who enjoys building meaningful relationships with older children while also providing light household support before they arrive home from school.

What You'll Do

• Complete light household tasks before children arrive home, including tidying the kitchen and main living spaces, unloading or loading the dishwasher, light laundry, taking out the trash, and helping keep the home organized
• Pick up one child from school while the other arrives home by bus
• Prepare healthy after-school snacks
• Supervise homework and reading
• Encourage engaging activities that balance creativity, outdoor play, and fun with friends
• Bring new ideas that match children's interests (music, art, remote-control vehicles, video games, spending time with family) while expanding their horizons
• Provide occasional transportation to playdates or activities

Schedule

• Start Date: August 31st
• Duration: School year (through the end of June)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Pay

• $32-35 per hour

Requirements

• Previous nanny or childcare experience with school-age children
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record
• Safe and reliable vehicle to transport children
• Comfortable transporting children when needed
• CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Excellent communication skills
• Dependable, organized, and proactive
• Able to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a positive attitude

Qualifications

• You naturally connect with older children and know how to make yourself relatable while maintaining healthy boundaries
• You're creative and can turn everyday moments into engaging activities that encourage children to step away from screens
• You enjoy being active and helping children discover new interests while supporting their growing independence
• You have experience balancing childcare with light household assistance and enjoy helping a busy family stay organized
• An interest in music, art, games, outdoor adventures, or other hobbies that school-age children enjoy would be a wonderful bonus

Working Conditions

• Work environment will be active, kid-centric and includes clean up of activities
• Part of each day may be spent outside, weather permitting, and will be active play
• Position involves regular lifting, bending, squatting, reaching and pushing
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds safely
• Must be able to get up from and down to the floor numerous times throughout the day
• Will need to be able to react quickly to certain situations
• May need to react to emergent situations in a calm, effective and safe manner
