Part-time Adjunct Instructor - Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

About the role

The Wadsworth Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at West Virginia University (WVU) invites applications for part-time adjunct instructor positions to support its program mission. In particular, the candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are highly desirable: Environmental Engineering and Water Resources (e.g., air pollution and control, solid and hazardous waste management, wastewater engineering, etc.), Construction Management, Geotechnical Engineering, and Transportation Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Civil and Environmental Engineering or related fields.
• Contribute to the department’s research activities.
• Participate in departmental committees and initiatives.
• Mentor doctoral students.

Requirements

• A PhD in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment.
• An MS degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited university with 3+ years of experience may also be considered.

Qualifications

• Active research experience in their area of expertise.
• Academic publications.
• An interest in advising/mentoring doctoral students.

Skills

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to teach effectively at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Experience with student mentoring and advising.
