Part Time Activities Assistant
About the role
Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center, named for Medal of Honor recipients Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter, provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans. The single‑level facility has 200 single‑occupancy rooms across four nursing units and is seeking an Activities Assistant for afternoons and evenings, with every other weekend required. The Activities Assistant assists the Activities Director and Activities Coordinator in delivering approved therapeutic recreation programs for veteran residents, including those with Alzheimer’s/dementia.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate all activities programs with other departments
- Assess and document patients' abilities and participation in group activities
Qualifications
- Experience providing activities programming preferably in a long‑term care or adult geriatric setting
- Physical ability to turn, bend and lift without restrictions
- Ability to read, write and communicate ideas
Additional consideration: experience working in a long‑term care or adult geriatric setting.
Pay
Hiring range based on experience up to $16/hr; Pay Band 3.
Schedule
Afternoons and evenings; every other weekend required.
