About the Role

The Medication Aide administers prescribed medications and treatments to residents in accordance with state regulatory stipulations, observes residents for effects (including unexpected or adverse reactions), documents required information in medication administration records, and communicates concerns to the Wellness Director, Wellness Coordinator, or designated personnel. The role also supports residents with activities of daily living — personal hygiene, socialization, cognition, and physical health — while encouraging independence, supporting choice, and preserving dignity through professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per state regulatory requirements.
• Observe residents taking medication, note effects and any unexpected or adverse reactions.
• Document all required information accurately in residents’ medication administration records.
• Communicate concerns or observations to the Wellness Director, Wellness Coordinator, or designated personnel.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living: personal hygiene, socialization, cognition, and physical health.
• Encourage resident independence, support resident choice, and preserve dignity in all interactions.

Requirements

Critical Success Factors:

• Successful completion of medication assistance training compliant with state and facility requirements.
• Maintain current medication certification per state regulations.
• Compassionate and empathetic in personal interactions.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Self‑supervising, self‑motivating, and willing to collaborate as a team member.
• Adaptable, flexible, highly organized, able to manage multiple demands concurrently.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving ability.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior direct care experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• All four CBRF certifications and CNA certification.
• Meets age requirements per facility policy and state regulations.

Schedule

• 3rd shift hours: 10:00 pm – 6:00 am.
• Shifts include every other weekend and every other company‑recognized holiday.
• Yearly continuing education requirement: 15 hours (annual online training plus monthly staff meetings).
