Part-time (0.5 FTE) Commercial Art Teacher - Long Island High School of Arts

About the role

The Nassau BOCES Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs (RSIP) is seeking a Part-time (0.5 FTE) Commercial Art Teacher who will have the opportunity to work within Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA). The candidate must be able to teach both first and second year-level students.

Responsibilities

• Developing and implementing lesson plans, assignments, assessments, and other instructional materials using effective teaching methods
• Designing and implementing an arts-integrated curriculum aligned with New York State Arts and Career and Technical Education (CTE) Standards
• Fostering a school culture that upholds high academic and artistic expectations, promoting a supportive and engaging learning environment
• Gathering, reporting, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative student data to inform and refine instructional plans

Requirements

• New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification: Commercial Art (Grades 7-12)
• Proven experience supporting students in a CTE setting
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with industry professionals
• Professional experience as a working artist
