As a Part Handler at Norlen, part of Ryerson family of companies, you will be responsible for the proper completion of all plant and equipment maintenance to ensure maximum operational efficiency with limited unscheduled downtime.

Responsibilities

• Promote and demonstrate a safe work environment (compliant with EPA/OSHA regulations)
• Comply with maintenance schedule and completion of preventative maintenance programs
• Train and supervise operators on daily maintenance tasks for equipment
• React to unscheduled breakdowns with urgency
• Perform standard repairs on all machinery including plate fabrication equipment, material handling equipment, overhead cranes and building repairs
• Ensure 80% up-time of all equipment with limited unscheduled production interruptions or breakdowns
• Respond on an on-call basis
• Perform other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance role
• Problem solving skills
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements and OSHA CA state certificates
• Able to operate forklift and overhead crane
• Knowledge of equipment (cranes, shears, saws, motors, burning equipment)
• Knowledge in the areas of electrical, mechanical and hydraulics
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities and multiple tasks
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding
