Parks Maintenance Worker II Parks and Basins Maintenance Assignment

Description/Duties

A Parks Maintenance Worker II works independently while performing a variety of semiskilled to skilled tasks in two or more trades or skill areas such as carpentry, welding, electrical, masonry, painting, or plumbing for the maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of facilities, fixtures, and equipment at City parks, basins, golf courses, athletic/sports fields, and other recreational areas including, but not limited to: chain link fence repair and installation; and repair of parks, playgrounds, golf courses, stadium structures, facilities, and related equipment.

• Independently schedule or complete related repairs.
• Plan and organize work activities.
• Transport, assemble, and dismantle bandshell and bleacher equipment for special events.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED.
• Good (1 - 3 years) experience in a minimum of two of the building or related trades such as carpentry, electrical, masonry, painting, plumbing, or welding.
• Must meet the qualifications to wear a tight-fitting respirator by passing a medical evaluation in accordance with Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.134 by hire or promotion date and must maintain certification.
• Must possess a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Instructional Permit with Tanker Endorsement by hire or promotion date.
• The skills demonstration portion of the CDL test must be completed within 120 days of hire or promotion date and will be administered by a City of Mesa Third Party Tester.

Special Requirements

• Substance Abuse Testing.
