About the role
Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Attend a 2-day virtual training for PWR! Moves and successfully complete as well as other online trainings within 30-60 days of being hired.
- Assist with leading energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
- Follows the Parkinson’s PWR! Moves exercises and cycling program format.
- Offers exercises suited to the population, monitors progression, and offers modifications.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Keeps accurate class attendance records.
- Responsible for walking around and assisting with correcting form during class.
- Afford assistance in maintaining equipment and informing Director of any breakage or items needing replacement.
- Report to work 5 minutes prior to class to prepare for class and ensure proper set up and tear down of class.
- Be dependable for weekly classes and responsible for covering the classes assigned to. Any substitutes should be called into their Director/Coordinator.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
Qualifications
- Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED
- At least 6 months of experience working in wellness field.
Physical Demands
- Ability to conduct classes and activities.
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position that includes leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
