Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Patrols parking lots, checks for proper permits, and issues citations for improper parking.
- Assists in providing motorist services such as starting cars, directing people to available parking, and specific buildings on campus.
- Affords assistance to visitors and registered users of the campus parking system in understanding regulations and the availability of parking.
- Processes copies of issued citations and completes forms related to work performed during shift.
- Directs traffic in parking lots during special events like football, basketball, entertainment events, theatrical productions, or University-wide events.
- Impounds vehicles parked in tow-away zones or those with excessive citations according to departmental procedures.
- Testifies in court involving contested citations as requested by the Attorney General's office.
- May set up, take down, maintain, and inventory all equipment needed for special event parking.
- May collect revenue from day pass machines and meters.
- May perform preventive maintenance on parking lot equipment and order new equipment as needed.
Requirements
- Two years related parking enforcement experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
- A valid Utah's Driver's License.
- Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a background review.
- Must be able to pass a background review.
- Must demonstrate computer experience including word processing and spreadsheet skills.
- Must be able to evaluate and resolve parking issues and payment options for customer's impounded vehicles.
- Must have good judgment and honesty when collecting payments for unpaid tickets in the field.
- Must be able to handle high stress and crisis situations.
- Must be committed to providing excellent customer service.
- Must be legally able to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must be able to ride a mountain bike.
