Parking Attendant, Intermittent

About the Role

Seattle Center is seeking qualified intermittent Parking Attendants. Work opportunities are directly related to Seattle Center event schedules, so hours of work will vary. Intermittent shifts are available on days, evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide information about parking, events, and facilities
• Sell parking and make change accurately and quickly
• Prepare and submit bank deposit paperwork
• Greet patrons in a friendly and welcoming manner
• Enforce facility rules and regulations
• Prepare facility for daily operation by setting appropriate signage
• Check facility for vandalism and pick up trash

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include six months of customer service experience. Preferred qualifications include experience working in a public parking facility, the ability to make change quickly and accurately, a personal owned and insured vehicle for use during work, a current Washington Driver’s License, and an excellent driving record.

Successful candidates will have proven experience serving a diverse customer base, friendly and respectful communication skills, and the ability to work irregular hours, including holidays and weekends.

Candidates must be available to work 180 hours annually, with 45 hours in each calendar quarter, and be willing to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

The role requires lifting and/or moving loads of up to 40 pounds, standing, walking, or bending for extended periods, and working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions. Employees must be available during busy events, including Bumbershoot, Folklife, Bite of Seattle, and all holidays.

Benefits

• Premium pay that increases with hours worked, starting at an additional 5% on top of the base rate, up to 25%
• Hourly rate of $26.92 - $31.49 per hour, with temporary employees beginning at $26.92 hourly

Pay

The full salary range for this position is $26.92 – $31.49 per hour. Temporary employees begin at step 1, which is $26.92 hourly. Intermittent employees do not get salary step increases.

Schedule

This is an intermittent/on-call position with no guaranteed minimum number of hours. Hours are based on event schedules at Seattle Center.
