The Parking Attendant supports daily parking operations by monitoring parking areas, enforcing regulations, and assisting customers. This role helps maintain safe, organized, and accessible parking across campus. The attendant provides directions, answers questions, and assists during events and busy periods, contributing to an efficient and customer-focused parking experience.

This individual is dependable and follows instructions closely while remaining adaptable in a fast-paced environment. They are comfortable working outdoors, monitoring parking activity, and responding to issues as they arise, including basic troubleshooting or reporting maintenance needs. The ideal candidate takes pride in keeping spaces clean and orderly, demonstrates sound judgment when enforcing parking guidelines, and is willing to support team operations—including assisting during events or helping guide other attendants when needed. Familiarity with parking equipment is a plus, but not required.

Workplace Requirements

This role is classified as an essential position, requiring on-site presence to effectively carry out its vital functions. This is a non-exempt (hourly) position under FLSA and is eligible for overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps parking areas clean and orderly to ensure that space usage is maximized
  • Directs motorists to parking areas or parking spaces, using hand signals or flashlights as necessary
  • Patrols parking areas to prevent vehicle damage and vehicle or property theft
  • Calculates parking charges when equipment is not working and collects fees from customers
  • Lifts, positions, and removes barricades to open or close parking areas
  • Provides direction and assistance to visitors as needed
  • May, at times, be asked to lead other attendants, students, and/or event staff
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 6 months of related experience (i.e., customer service, working at a university, parking, transportation, light maintenance, etc.)
  • In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) required with no more than 3 moving violations within the past 36 months and no citations for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Pay

Hourly hiring salary: $18.00
