About the role

The Park Manager is responsible for the planning, directing, and coordinating operation and management of State Parks. This includes ensuring a safe, well-maintained park facility, managing the park's budget, providing visitor services, promoting park usage, protecting natural resources, and managing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Affirms a safe, well-maintained park facility through supervision and training of staff.
  • Manages the park's operating budget and ensures fiscal control and accountability.
  • Develops and maintains positive community relations, local partnerships, and volunteer programs.
  • Engages in aggressive marketing efforts to promote park usage.
  • Protects natural resources and educates visitors about environmental issues.
  • Analyzes financial information and operational requirements to plan and prepare the park's budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Park Administration or Management, Criminal Justice, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Park Management or Operations, Business Administration, Building and Grounds Maintenance, General Construction, or Natural Resource Management or Operations.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of park management and business administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personnel and financial management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing and advertising methods and principles.
  • Familiarity with general construction methods and maintenance procedures.
  • Familiarity with laws, rules, and regulations concerning the operation of State Parks.
  • Ability to use basic computer applications such as Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to give clear instruction and communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience supervising a team.
  • Demonstrated time management and leadership ability.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

Qualifications

Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

Skills

Knowledge of principles of park management and business administration, personnel and financial management, marketing and advertising methods and principles, general construction methods and maintenance procedures, laws, rules, and regulations concerning the operation of State Parks, contracts, purchases of State equipment and supplies, and property management. Ability to use basic computer applications such as Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint. Ability to follow both oral and written instructions. Ability to give clear instruction and communicate both verbally and in writing. Experience supervising a team. Demonstrated time management and leadership ability. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

Pay

This position will pay $47,500 annually. An additional $4,500 annual housing allowance is provided as no housing is currently available on-site.

Schedule

Scheduled hours will require flexibility, including holidays, weekends, or events, based on the needs of the agency.
