About the role
The Tennessee State Parks exist to protect and preserve the natural, cultural, and historical resources of Tennessee. T.O. Fuller State Park is particularly significant, serving as a valuable public space for the surrounding community and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and support park staff.
- Prepare work schedules and assignments.
- Administer performance management; foster a culture of safety, accountability, service, and continuous improvement.
- Manage daily park operations, including visitor services, facilities, maintenance, budgeting, purchasing, revenue accountability, planning, reporting, and emergency response.
- Protect, preserve, and share the park's historic, cultural, archaeological, and natural resources, including the park's CCC legacy, African American history, and community significance.
- Develop community outreach, volunteer engagement, interpretive programming, and partnership strategies that strengthen the park's connection with visitors and stakeholders.
- Develop and implement natural and cultural resource management priorities for the park while balancing stewardship, recreation, access, and the visitor experience.
Requirements
- Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university, with preference given to those with degrees in natural or historic resource-based management or Park and Recreation Management.
- Candidates must have at least three years of full-time professional park and conservation experience, of which one year must be supervisory.
- Additional education or experience may be substituted for the required experience or education, respectively, on a year-for-year basis.
- Candidates must possess or be willing to possess a state law enforcement commission recognized by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy.
Qualifications
- A candidate selected who is not commissioned will be required to successfully complete the academy as a condition of continued employment.
