Park Maintenance Worker I or II

About the role

As a Parks Maintenance Worker I or II in the City of Plano, you'll play a hands-on role in maintaining and enhancing the parks, trails, and green spaces our community enjoys every day. From landscaping and facility upkeep to assisting with repairs and construction projects, you'll help ensure our parks remain safe, welcoming, and well-maintained for all to enjoy.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, and watering of park grounds
• Assist with the repair and replacement of park equipment and facilities
• Assist with the planning and implementation of park improvement projects
• Ensure compliance with city policies and safety standards
• Assist with emergency response and incident management

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Texas driver's license
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Knowledge of basic landscaping and maintenance techniques
• Experience with park equipment and tools

Qualifications

• At least one year of related experience in park maintenance or a closely related field
• Completion of a certified landscaping or horticulture program
• First aid and CPR certification

Skills

• Strong physical fitness and stamina
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay

The target hourly rate for the Park Maintenance Worker I is $17.91; depending on qualifications. The target hourly rate for the Park Maintenance Worker II is $18.81; depending on qualifications.

Schedule

Full-time schedule is typically 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
