About the role

Morrison Child and Family Services is a Joint Commission and Sanctuary accredited non‑profit providing services to children, adolescents, and families. The Parent Mentor – Mother (Self Sufficiency Program) role supports parents in recovery with lived experience of addiction, recovery, and DHS child‑welfare involvement, helping them reunite with their children and maintain recovery. Responsibilities

  • Empower and coach parents through their ODHS case, support them at family meetings and court hearings.
  • Drive parents to appointments within their counties/districts.
  • Connect parents to culturally specific resources.
  • Provide support to other mentors on the team.
  • Develop trusting relationships with child‑welfare‑involved parents through regular contact, attending court/meetings.
  • Build relationships with ODHS Child Welfare, treatment services, and dependency court systems; represent the program positively with county partners.
  • Communicate positively and professionally with ODHS staff; collaborate with caseworkers to support parents’ goals.
  • Consult with ODHS staff on culturally specific practices to engage families.
  • Encourage and support parent participation in Parent Support Group events and activities.
  • Facilitate OSLC‑KEEP sessions as appropriate, following required training and certifications.
  • Adhere to Morrison Compliance Program: understand Standards of Conduct, sign attestation, complete compliance, HIPAA, client privacy, and fraud/waste/abuse training; know how to report concerns.
  • Demonstrate commitment to learning and applying the Sanctuary model and organizational policies.
  • Participate in staff development, in‑services, and training; model professional behaviors and improve business practices within a trauma‑informed behavioral healthcare setting.

Requirements

  • Personal experience and knowledge of addiction issues.
  • Minimum 2 years in active recovery from alcohol and other drugs.
  • Personal experience of an ODHS Child Welfare case, closed for at least 1 year.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or high‑school level reading/writing skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and personal auto liability insurance; reliable personal transportation for travel within Douglas County and surrounding counties.
  • Must pass a criminal history check.
  • Note: This role does not fulfill supervision requirements for CADC certification internship credit.

Pay

$21.64 – $23.85 per hour.

Schedule

Part‑time, 30 hours per week; Monday–Friday.
