About the role

Making Opportunity Count is seeking a part time (20 hour per week) Parent Child Plus Early Learning Specialist in our Gardner, MA location. Part time employees are eligible for vacation, sick, holiday pay, dental, and vision benefits on day one!

Responsibilities

  • Conduct one thirty minute introductory home visit to assigned families per week, providing a new book/toy.
  • Encourage verbal interactions between parent and child.
  • Model dialogic reading techniques.
  • Offer parents ideas to increase child cognitive and social-emotional development.
  • Conduct one thirty minute review per week with assigned program parents.
  • Maintain accurate records of toys and books distributed to assigned families, signing VISMS out.
  • Maintain and submit accurate records of family visits; completing family session reports (intro and review), CBT/ PACT reports in a timely manner.
  • Input CBT and PACT results into the National PCHP MIS data-base.
  • File session reports and other documents into the family folder.
  • Aid with VISM guide sheet review, ordering, and inventory.
  • Attend staff meetings, 2 hour weekly, and participate in reflective supervision and in-field observation with program supervisor quarterly.
  • Attend required National PCHP trainings.
  • Aid Program Coordinator in updating program guide sheets, maintaining accurate records and inventory or program VISMS, planning parent training, community literacy events, and family activities as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality between program families, following agency policies on confidentiality.
  • Assist with support and information to families with children transitioning between early education and care settings, home and school.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge in early childhood education, and home visiting.
  • Strong knowledge of child growth and development birth to 4 years, a commitment to low-income population and issues affecting these families.
  • Enjoy playing with children and exhibit warmth and patience when dealing with children.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, use a keyboard, use a telephone, and climb stairs.

Skills

  • The employee must have the ability to commute frequently to home visits, offices, and other locations as needed.

Pay

A salary within the range of $20.43 to $27.64 per hour will be provided to the successful candidate having met the minimum requirements for the position consistent with the MOC compensation philosophy. The candidate’s exact placement will be determined based on factors consistent with MOC’s compensation framework.

Schedule

This position is available starting on August 31st, 2026.
