About Our School
Marklund Day School is a non-public state-certified school that partners with area school districts to provide a highly specialized education experience. The therapeutic, sensory-driven Multi-Needs Program serves individuals ages 3 through 21 with medical, developmental, and physical disabilities. Through the Life Skills Program, teachers and paraprofessionals provide individualized functional curriculum and supports for students who are diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, specific learning disabilities, and developmental disabilities.
Summary of Duties
- Assist teachers with classwork and the daily care of students with special needs.
- Provide direct care, attend In-services and other educational functions as required.
- Keeps equipment in classroom in clean condition and provides safe physical environment for all students.
- Documents all goals/program which includes the daily participation records after completion of a task with a student.
- Works directly with the students one-on-one and in groups outlined in the IEP's.
- Must successfully pass PCM (behavior management) training.
Qualifications
- Illinois Paraprofessional Educator license is required. It can be obtained after being hired within 30 days, and we will offer a $500 bonus for getting it.
- To obtain license candidates must have at least a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements.
Schedule
Hours are 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM, Monday-Friday. Year-round day school located in Geneva, IL.
Pay
Our hourly rate for Life Skills is $20.00 with no experience, $21.00 with 2 years of Paraprofessional experience and up to $22.50 with 5 years or more of Paraprofessional experience. With a Bachelor's Degree our hourly rate for Life Skills is $21.00 with no experience, $22.00 with 2 years of Paraprofessional experience and up to $23.50 with 5 years or more of Paraprofessional experience.
