PARAPROFESSIONAL, STUDENT MONITOR
About the role
The Student Monitor Paraprofessional monitors, supervises, and guides students in compliance with established school procedures. The primary role in this position would be lunch and recess duty as well as some other support throughout the building.
Responsibilities
- Aids students with assignments
- Obtains and organizes student resource materials
- Informs supervisor of any concerns or problem situations as necessary
- Provides back-up support to other positions as required or requested
- Maintains order and discipline in classrooms, computer laboratories, hallways, lunchrooms, playgrounds, and other locations as required or requested
- Implements classroom behavior management strategies
- Communicates with teachers, counselors, and other administrators about performance and disciplinary issues
- Maintains the confidentiality of student information
Requirements
- A High School Diploma/GED is required
- An Associate's Degree is preferred
- Knowledge with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing
- A strong attention to detail
- The ability to handle multiple demands and competing deadlines
- The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance
- The ability to work collaboratively with others on a team
- Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and fast-paced environment
- The ability to coordinate and work effectively with site staff and a diverse student population
- The ability to monitor and supervise assigned student activity for sustained periods of time to anticipate and maintain a safe environment
