Qualifications/Certifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited educational institution with at least 30 semester hours in general education core curriculum and/or child development and education or successful completion of the ParaPro test with a score of 457 or higher.
- Experience working with children.
- For PARAPROFESSIONAL I (Grade 18):
- A Head Start Preschool assistant teacher must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (preschool level).
- Possess a State-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds CDA requirements.
- Be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree.
- Be enrolled in a CDA credential program, with the expectation of completion within 2 years of hire.
- For PARAPROFESSIONAL II (Grade 19):
- An Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited educational institution required.
