About the Role
This is a noninstructional paraprofessional position at Hilliard Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. Paraprofessionals may be assigned to support ESE, Basic, Vocational, Guidance, Media programs, or perform clerical duties as needed.
Pay
Range of pay: $16.44/hr - $18.17/hr. Additional annual compensation from the Millage initiative will be awarded, with the amount for 2026-2027 to be determined by NESPA bargaining and ratification (prorated from July 1, 2026). The 2025-2026 amount was $5,908.
Responsibilities
- Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and equipment.
- Implement classroom activities under teacher or administrator direction.
- Provide instructional assistance as planned or coordinated by the teacher or administrator.
- Supervise students as required by the teacher or administrator.
- Perform assigned clerical and bookkeeping duties.
- Compile required data and enter it into the computer.
- Participate in training programs and in-service activities.
- Plan and organize instruction using guidelines established by the teacher or administrator.
- Utilize classroom management techniques to maintain an effective environment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment for students.
- Operate instructional equipment effectively.
- Establish and maintain records and files pertinent to the assigned program.
- Assist in maintaining positive relationships between the school and parents.
- Contact parents at the direction of the teacher or administration.
- Answer telephone, route calls, and take messages as directed.
- Serve as a substitute for the teacher as directed.
- Assist in assessing student progress as directed.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
- Assist students with personal hygiene and/or grooming if required.
- Use effective, positive interpersonal skills.
- Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of study at an accredited postsecondary institution; or
- An Associate's degree or higher; or
- Passed a rigorous examination demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Ability to type at a prescribed rate of speed.
- Computer proficiency.
- Guidance secretary experience preferred.
- Health aide experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
