About the role
The Paraprofessional Educator assists the classroom teacher to provide extra support to students with special needs, promoting maximum academic and personal growth. The paraprofessional job responsibilities range from supplementing regular classroom curriculum to helping individual students.
Responsibilities
- Complies with ATC Healthcare Services policies and procedures.
- Complies with client policies and procedures.
- Provides instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students.
- Affords assistance to teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class.
- Assists with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials.
- Supervises students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, on field trips, and/or during before and after school programs.
- Attends to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.
- Supports students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans.
- Communicates in writing or verbally with parents/guardians per school protocols.
- Performs other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration.
Qualifications
- Has completed State of Illinois Professional Educator curriculum endorsed for Paraprofessional’s.
- Obtained an associate degree (or higher) at a regionally accredited institution of higher education or equivalent to obtain a license.
- Possesses a valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License endorsed for Paraprofessional.
- Must have at least 1 year of recent experience working with children with special needs, students with medical/developmental disabilities as a Paraprofessional Educator. Must also have experience with students that may have very challenging behavior.

$22.00/hour

Requirements
Background screening as required by the client.
CPR from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
Hepatitis B Statement or Declination [OSHA 29 CFR, 1910.1030(f)(2)].
Tuberculosis screening test.
Physical exam.
Drug screening as required by the client contract.
