Paraprofessional, Class I

9-month position, 5 days per week, 7 hours per day (8:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., working lunch). Hours may vary based on building needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned student(s) with physical tasks (must be able to lift at least fifty pounds).
• Reinforce class rules and assist substitute teachers.
• Support student recitations, readings, and other curriculum tasks.
• Work with small groups to reinforce materials initially introduced by the teacher.
• Reinforce behavior management techniques.
• Accompany student(s) to the office, school nurse, or other locations as needed.
• Serve as a resource person for student evaluation teams.
• Assist with bathroom duties and other assigned tasks based on student needs.
• Ensure students are transported safely to and from school transportation.
• Apply CPI training, including crisis prevention holds and de-escalation procedures.

Qualifications

• CPI training (will be provided).
• Ohio Department of Education one-year Educational Aide permit.
• Must meet one of the following State of Ohio requirements:
  • Passed the ParaPro Assessment Test,
  • Holds an Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution, or
  • Completed at least 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours at an accredited college or university.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $18.23–$25.08 (follows the 2026–2027 salary schedule).

8:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., Monday through Friday (working lunch).
