About the Role
Assist students with direct care and daily living activities to enhance their quality of life and support their ability to remain in a school setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, respectful support and act as a positive role model
- Collaborate with teachers to support student growth and behavior management
- Assist with instructional activities, classroom housekeeping, and behavior cues
- Attend to personal needs such as hygiene, feeding, and medical monitoring in accordance with IEPs
- Document progress, behavior, and health changes accurately
- Communicate with families, teachers, and staff confidentially
- Support students during transitions, outings, and therapy sessions
- Support adaptive device use and technology in the classroom
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, repositioning students, and operating equipment safely
- Adhere to health, safety, confidentiality, and documentation standards
- Other duties may be assigned as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- State-specific certification
- CPR certification
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to follow policies
- Prior pediatric or adult care experience preferred
- Physical strength, dexterity, and ability to respond to emergencies
- Flexibility to work in diverse environments, with exposure to bodily fluids and allergens
