About the role

Damar is a mission-driven organization providing behavioral health and I/DD services since 1967. The Behavior Support role involves working one-on-one with students, fostering their growth academically, socially, and behaviorally.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support and supervision for assigned student
• Avoid and manage crises when necessary
• Encourage positive social interactions and appropriate behaviors
• Support academic, social, and emotional development
• Maintain a safe and healthy learning environment
• Conduct and supervise recreational and life enrichment activities
• Complete required documentation daily

Requirements

• At least 21 years old for Children's Residential programs
• Valid Indiana driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Clear of felony convictions and substantiated charges of neglect
• Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
• Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening

Qualifications

• Passport to a passion for helping others
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Skills

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage crisis situations
• Knowledge of verbal and physical intervention techniques
