About the role

Serves the educational, behavioral, social-emotional, physical, and daily living needs of secondary students with disabilities in various settings.

Responsibilities

  • Supports academic, health, daily living, and behavioral needs as outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Maintains classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.
  • Performs daily living procedures such as toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • Provides medically invasive procedures following universal precautions and as directed.
  • Lifts and transports students using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Enforces behavior intervention plans, crisis plans, and health care plans.
  • Collects data on students' IEP goals under the supervision of a special education teacher.
  • Communicates and coordinates with students and parents regarding educational issues.

Requirements

  • Must pass District-approved written and physical exams covering de-escalation and physical restraint training annually.
  • Must have a valid Colorado driver's license or be able to obtain one within the required timeframe for new residents and meet District's insurability requirements.

Refer to the paraprofessional qualifications guide for details. Must have specialized training in invasive procedures, such as tube feeding and catheterization, which will be provided upon assignment.

Pay

New hires will be set at $22.824 per hour. The salary range for internal candidates is $22.824 to $27.275 per hour. For detailed compensation information, view the Para Salary Schedule. The salary listed reflects the 2025–2026 school year. Salaries for the 2026–2027 school year are typically finalized and released mid-summer, with an effective date of August 1. If any updates or adjustments are made once the new salary schedule is finalized, all impacted individuals will receive the updated salary.
