PARAPROFESSIONAL, 1:1 ELEMENTARY SPECIAL EDUCATION - 5TH GRADE

About the Role

Supports the educational, behavioral, social-emotional, physical, and daily living needs of elementary students with disabilities in integrated, resource, self-contained, and community settings. This position is in conjunction with Job ID 83165, and applicants must apply to both.

Responsibilities

• Provides services to students as outlined in their Individual Education Plan (IEP), including academic, health, daily living, and behavioral support.
• Monitors classroom activities, assignments, and materials under teacher supervision to reinforce objectives and meet learning goals.
• Assists with daily living procedures such as toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene.
• Performs medically invasive procedures (e.g., tube feeding, catheterization) following universal precautions and training.
• Lifts and transports students using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Supports implementation of behavior intervention plans, crisis plans, and health care plans.
• Implements student accommodations and modifications as outlined in IEPs.
• Collects data on IEP goals under special education teacher supervision.
• Communicates with students and parents about routine educational issues as directed by the teacher.

Requirements

• Specialized training in invasive procedures will be provided as needed.
• Must pass District-approved written and physical exams covering de-escalation and restraint training annually.
• Complete required training within 75 days of hire.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license (or ability to obtain) and meet District’s insurability requirements if transporting students.
• Commit to racial and educational excellence, dismantling systems of oppression, and supporting all students.
• Maintain a permanent home address in Colorado.
• Meet physical demands of the position with or without accommodations.
