PARAPROFESSIONAL, 1:1 ELEMENTARY SPECIAL EDUCATION - 4TH GRADE
About the role
Serves the educational, behavioral, social-emotional, physical, and daily living needs of elementary students with disabilities in various settings.
Responsibilities
- Supports academic, health, daily living, and behavioral needs as outlined in students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Maintains classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.
- Provides daily living procedures such as toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene.
- Performs medically invasive procedures like tube feeding and catheterization following universal precautions and as trained.
- Lifts and transports students using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Enforces students' behavior intervention plans, crisis plans, and health care plans.
- Applies accommodations and modifications from students' IEPs in both academic and non-academic settings.
- Collects data on students' IEP goals under the supervision of a special education teacher.
- Communicates with students and parents regarding routine educational matters.
Requirements
- Must pass District-approved written and physical exams covering de-escalation and physical restraint training annually.
- Must complete specialized training in invasive procedures, such as tube feeding and catheterization, as required by the assignment.
- Must have a valid Colorado driver's license or be able to obtain one within the state's required timeframe for new residents and meet the District's insurability requirements.

Pay
New hires will be set at $22.824 per hour. The salary range for internal candidates is $22.824 to $27.275 per hour. For detailed compensation information, view the Para Salary Schedule. The salary listed reflects the 2025–2026 school year. Salaries for the 2026–2027 school year are typically finalized and released mid-summer, with an effective date of August 1. If any updates or adjustments are made once the new salary schedule is finalized, all impacted individuals will receive the updated salary.
