Parapro - Intervention - 26/27 SY

About the Role

The Parapro Interventionist works directly with classroom teachers to provide intervention programs for students needing additional time and alternative strategies in reading, writing, and math.

Responsibilities

• Tutors individual and small groups of students to reinforce and support learning activities.
• Assists in the development of intervention materials, including copying and laminating for teachers.
• Delivers supplies to classrooms and grades classwork.
• Monitors and assists students in learning activities such as guided practice, repetition, and assessment.
• Meets and collaborates regularly with other interventionists.
• Supervises students during intervention activities, learning labs, field trips, and on playgrounds.
• Substitutes in general education classrooms as needed.
• Maintains a log of daily intervention activities related to student achievement.
• Monitors testing and demonstrates strong oral and written communication.
• Attends required trainings and is willing to be cross-trained in other content areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Passing the Parapro Assessment Test.
• Associate's Degree or 60 college credit hours.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• One (1) year of classroom experience, preferably with children, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Depending on District needs, fluency in both Spanish and English may be required.

Skills

• Knowledge of student learning and behavior characteristics.
• Understanding of intervention program goals and purposes.
• Sensitivity to diversity in students, staff, and parent groups.
• Proficiency in personal computer use and related software.
• Ability to maintain routine records.
• Skill in following oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an indoor environment. Requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, and vision to monitor. May require some lifting.

Pay

Hourly pay: $17.35

• Days per year: 195
