About the role

Mercy EMS seeks a Full Time Paramedic to join our team. The position involves direct patient care, performing assessments, evaluations, and providing basic and advanced medical rescue. Responsibilities also include clerical and maintenance duties.

Responsibilities

• Assess, evaluate, and provide basic and advanced medical rescue to patients.
• Access, stabilize, evacuate, and transport patients to appropriate destinations.
• Perform clerical and maintenance duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Licensure: Paramedic (EMT-P) license for the state of practice, Valid driving license.
• Experience: Applicants must be at least 19 years of age.
• Certifications/Registration: Hazmat awareness level training, ACLS at hire, PALS within 6 months of hire/transfer.

Qualifications

• Unimpaired mobility: Must be able to respond quickly to ambulance, access patients in difficult terrain, climb stairs, work in close and dangerous environments, and partner to carry equipment and patients.
• Strenuous physical requirements: Must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks such as CPR, lifting and moving equipment and patients in various environmental conditions.
• Medical skills and techniques: Must be able to perform required medical skills and techniques.
• Vision and hearing: Must have correctable vision acceptable for day and night operation of emergency vehicles, adequate color acuity for determining skin and blood color, and ability to read medication dosages on drug labels and syringes. Must be able to hear and understand information provided by patients, family or bystanders, hear breath sounds and accurately determine auscultated blood pressures, hear and understand radio traffic when responding with lights and sirens, speak and enunciate clearly in stressful situations, and verbally communicate with patients, families and other emergency services personnel.

Skills

• Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
