Paramedic FT - Hudson Valley Region

Job Responsibility

• Responds to assignments as directed and updates unit status as required.
• Affirms the patient’s nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures in accordance with New York State Department of Health Guidelines.
• Administers first aid treatment or Advanced Life Support care to sick or injured persons in prehospital settings.
• Collaborates or interacts professionally with partners, patients, public safety personnel, colleagues, and hospital emergency staff to facilitate care delivery.
• Communicates with dispatchers, medical control, or treatment center personnel to provide information about situation, to arrange reception of patients, or to receive instructions for further treatment.
• Writes a comprehensive report documenting the situation at the scene, physical exam, orders received, treatments rendered, response to these treatments, and other information deemed pertinent.
• Completes check of vehicle equipment and systems, and completes manifest at start of tour.
• Ensures the ambulance complies with 10 NYCRR 800 and Departmental policies.
• Safeguards and maintains Department equipment and property.
• Operates Department vehicles in accordance with New York State Vehicle and Traffic Laws and Department policies.
• Attends training classes to maintain certification licensure, keep abreast of new developments in the field, or maintain existing knowledge.
• Performs medical histories and physical exams as indicated on patients in the field.
• Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualification

• High School degree or equivalent, required.
• Driver’s license valid in New York State. (Current and without violations).
• Current NYS DOH EMT-Paramedic certification.
• Must meet the criteria for NYS DOH Functional Description for qualifications, competencies, and tasks (EMT-Paramedic).
• Current New York City REMAC Paramedic, preferred.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
