About the role

The Paramedic acts as the primary director of care in emergency and non-emergency situations by providing efficient and immediate care for patients. Responsibilities include examining, evaluating, and diagnosing patients to administer proper medical care, performing basic and advanced life support techniques (e.g., CPR, AED, ventilation, hemorrhage control), and stabilizing patients using invasive procedures when necessary. The Paramedic documents all aspects of care provided under their direction and operates an ambulance to safely transport patients to medical facilities under various road conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care in emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Examine, evaluate, and diagnose patients rapidly to provide appropriate medical interventions
  • Administer basic and advanced life support, including CPR, AED, ventilation, and hemorrhage control
  • Perform invasive techniques to stabilize patients
  • Document all aspects of patient care
  • Operate an ambulance safely under various road conditions to transport patients

Requirements

  • Must be 19 years of age
  • Ability to remain calm and make rapid, appropriate decisions under stress in emergency situations
  • Ability to work outdoors
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Familiarity with age-specific patient care needs

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Experience: Previous EMT experience (preferred)
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration:
    • Current Missouri licensure as EMT-P (required)
    • For-hire driver’s license (Class E) or greater (CDL) for operation of an ambulance in the state of residence (required)
    • BLS certification due within 90 days of hire (required)
    • ACLS certification due within 1 year of hire (required)
    • PALS certification due within 1 year of hire (required)
