Paramedic - Emergency Room

Responsibilities

• Attaches and completes 12 lead EKG tests before providing the strip to the physician on duty.
• Initiates cardiac monitoring, detects dysrhythmias, and notifies the assigned nurse or charge nurse of abnormalities.
• Performs venipuncture for testing and inserts peripheral IVs, hangs IV fluid without medication, and maintains prescribed IV flow rates.
• Observes and documents the condition of infusion sites and removes IV lines as directed by registered nurse.
• Assists physician or registered nurse with procedures and exams.
• Follows Center for Disease Control isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of personal protective equipment, performs hand washing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
• Champions customer service by keeping patients informed, providing updates, and demonstrating caring and compassion.
• Provides patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Transports patients as directed by licensed personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Grad or Equivalent
• 1+ year ED or pre-hospital paramedic experience
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)
• Licensed Paramedic (PARA)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS)

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

Pay

$21.03 - $33.65 per hour
