Paramedic ED Nights
About the role
Assists higher-trained personnel in providing effective care. Delivers exceptional customer service to patients, families, bystanders, and other response agency personnel. Supports community service and relationship functions as requested by leadership. Maintains a safe and effective work environment by adhering to infection control standards. Communicates effectively with healthcare team members and other emergency responders. Ensures the ambulance is clean, stocked, and ready for use at all times. Follows established policies, procedures, guidelines, medical protocols, and safety standards. Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls to provide care to ill and injured patients. Performs assessments and applies methods of treatment and transport based on medical protocols. Operates the ambulance safely and professionally, obeying traffic rules and regulations. Completes patient care reports, daily checklists, and other required documentation.
Responsibilities
- Absorbs, treats, and cares for patients to the level of certification
- Maintains a professional and calm presence under the most critical situations
- Operates a motor vehicle in a safe and professional manner
- Determines the nature of patient conditions and assesses whether patients have pre-existing medical conditions
- Treats life-threatening conditions within the paramedic's field of practice
- Maintains a clean and stocked ambulance at all times
- Fulfills roles as directed by leadership
- Completes patient care reports, daily checklists, and other required documentation
Requirements
- Licensed Paramedic (PARA)
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS)
- Driver's License (DL)
- National Incident Management System FEMA Training (NIMS) (Preferred)
Qualifications
- Associate Degree [Preferred]
- High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
- Field Of Study N/A
- 1+ related work experience [Preferred]
Skills

- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively

- Knowledge to identify patient acuity levels
- Ability to utilize and adapt to state-of-the-art technology, computer systems, and computer applications
- Effective oral and written communication
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and others of diverse backgrounds
- Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast pace, high patient volume environment
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Emergency vehicle operations (Preferred)
- Defensive driving (Preferred)
- 5 years of driving passenger vehicles (Preferred)
