Overview
St. Louis Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced Paramedic to join their Emergency Department team. This position offers a rewarding career with a focus on providing comprehensive, high-quality care to children.
Responsibilities
- Documents initial and updated assessments on all patients; performs triage and assigns trauma patients to rooms.
- Educates and discharges patients as necessary.
- Implements individualized quality care after initial evaluation.
- Performs invasive procedures such as IV and catheter placements, testing including all lab tests, treatments and sedations as directed by the RN, NP or Physician.
- Maintains certifications, competency and actively participates in training for emergency response.
- Affords assistance during disasters, crisis intervention and response.
- Collaborates with community first responders to develop, implement, and evaluate preparedness strategies.
- Assists in prioritizing and performing care for medical, trauma and mental health patients for various levels of acuities.
- This includes bedside trauma care, medication administration including narcotics and other bedside responsibilities within the Paramedic scope of practice.
- Performs routine equipment function tests and calibrations, assists with the maintenance and cleaning of patient care equipment and with the inventory of supplies and equipment ensuring adequate supply levels.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience:
- Licenses & Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support (BLS), Paramedic.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience: 2-5 years.
- Licenses & Certifications: PAL, Trauma Nurse Core Course.
