Paralegal Studies- Adjunct Professor

About the Role

This is a temporary, hourly, as-needed adjunct professor position without permanent status. The role involves teaching Paralegal Studies courses on a part-time basis, with assignments filled from an applicant pool as needs arise. You will be contacted by the hiring manager if selected for an interview.

Responsibilities

• Teach PLGL courses according to the College’s course outlines of record and pursuant to the guidelines of the American Bar Association Standing Committee for the approval of paralegal programs.
• Participate in the timely assessment of student learning outcomes and program-level outcomes.
• Assist the Paralegal Program Coordinator, as needed, with information and record-keeping requests related to ABA requirements, including but not limited to:
  • Providing a copy of practical assignments, quizzes, exams, and class discussions (if applicable) each term.
  • Administering required surveys.
  • Providing a current resume for each reporting cycle.
  • Providing information concerning completed professional development each academic year.

Requirements

Minimum of one of the following awarded/conferred from a regionally accredited institution:

• Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience; or
• Any associate degree and six years of professional experience. Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master’s degree and must be directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment; or
• The equivalent (must request an equivalency review in the application); or
• California Community College credential, “Valid for Life” (no longer issued), authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline (a copy of the valid lifetime credential must be submitted with the application).

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively to students orally and in writing.
• Minimum of two years’ experience working with or as a paralegal.

Pay

$101.40 per hour (based on lecture hour equivalent).
