About the role

A valued member of our preeminent Real Estate practice, focusing on title and survey review and supporting a wide range of transactions for real estate lawyers across the firm. Our global real estate group is renowned for first-class legal skills and market knowledge, delivering client-focused innovation in pioneering deal structures. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in title and survey work, proactively complete tasks with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines under tight time constraints. This position may require work outside typical business hours to meet transaction closing requirements and is billable, with a requirement of at least 1,650 hours per evaluation period.

Day-to-day work direction and oversight will be provided by Real Estate partners, while administrative reporting will be to the Director of Practice Support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of title and survey review across all types and sizes of transactions for the firm’s Real Estate practice.
  • Review and summarize exceptions listed in title commitments, identify and analyze title issues, finalize pro formas and related endorsements, and assist with collating and coordinating flood due diligence for clients.
  • Work closely with deal attorneys to develop practical solutions or structure alternatives for title issues.
  • Execute the timely completion of due diligence deliverables, often under tight transaction deadlines.
  • Manage transactions varying in size and complexity, from single-property deals to complex portfolios involving 50 to 100+ properties.
  • Support and partner with attorneys, working directly with title companies, borrower’s counsel, and other third parties to ensure diligence is completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Meet the minimum requirement of 1,650 annual billable hours.
  • Participate in the firm’s Global Responsible Business program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Five (5)+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably from a large law firm or title company environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience performing diligence directly.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with or without direct supervision and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Ability to prioritize, be flexible, and perform well under pressure with strong time-management skills.
  • Sound judgment and strong adherence and sensitivity to confidential matters.
  • Ability to work well with and gain the confidence of professionals and attorneys at all levels.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word) and other computer skills.

Schedule

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET, including one hour for lunch, with the willingness and ability to work overtime as needed.

Pay

In New York, the expected base salary range for this role is $99,000 - $117,000 per year. The actual compensation offered may vary depending on the candidate’s qualifications. This position is eligible for additional forms of compensation, including annual discretionary bonuses.
