Key Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions
- Gather, organize, summarize and index documents from various sources.
- Prepare and organize real estate closing documents, including loan agreements, mortgages, deeds, and title documents.
- Conduct title searches and review title commitments and surveys.
- Aid in due diligence for real estate acquisitions and development projects.
- Cook with lenders, title companies, and other parties to facilitate closings.
- Prepare closing binders and maintain transaction databases.
- Attendance at and participation in meetings and/or closings.
- Preparation of documents and correspondence.
- Special projects and duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Organizational skills to work independently and meet deadlines in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.
- Organizational skills to maintain daily accounting of time records and input timesheets into the system directly.
- Communication skills to interact with all levels of internal staff, attorneys and management and external clients of the firm.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills sufficient to make decisions regarding daily work.
- Time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Knowledge of real estate terminology and transaction procedures.
- Experience with real estate document management systems.
- Familiarity with title review processes and requirements.
Required Qualifications & Education
- 5 – 10 years of experience as a paralegal with significant focus on real estate transactions, particularly financing, acquisitions, and development.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Paralegal certification a plus
- Experience with commercial real estate transactions
- Familiarity with ALTA surveys and title policies
- Experience with electronic closing platforms
