Paralegal/Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary (Houston, TX)

Stange Law Firm, PC is seeking motivated individuals for a full-time Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Legal Secretary role in our Austin, Texas office. We help individuals and families navigate divorce, child custody disputes, paternity actions, modifications, estate planning, adoption, and other domestic relations matters.
About the role
As a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Legal Secretary, you will support attorneys in providing outstanding legal representation and client service. This role involves client service, case management, administrative support, billing, and technology tasks in a fast-paced family law environment.
Responsibilities
- Client Service
- Professionally greet clients and visitors.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and relay messages accurately.
- Schedule appointments and assist with client communications.
- Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, and third parties.
- Ensure every client receives exceptional service throughout their case.
- Case Management
- Prepare, draft, and proofread pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Prepare documents for filing with courts and other agencies.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical client files.
- Calendar hearings, deadlines, meetings, and appointments.
- Assist attorneys with discovery, trial preparation, and other litigation support.
- Administrative Support
- Perform electronic filing with courts.
- Organize files and legal documents.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Scan, copy, and distribute documents.
- Perform general administrative duties and assist with special projects.
- Billing & Technology
- Enter billable time into the firm’s timekeeping software on the same day work is performed.
- Utilize Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and the firm’s case management software.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, or in a law firm is preferred but not required.
- Family law or litigation experience is preferred but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new technology and software.
- Positive attitude, professionalism, dependability, and outstanding customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
