CCLAF of South Florida, Inc. (CCLA) is a Legal Services Corporation (LSC) funded, non-profit organization established in 2003. CCLA provides free civil legal services to low-income and eligible residents of Broward County, Florida. Our mission is to provide equal justice to underserved communities through quality and innovative free civil legal aid. We advocate for individuals in our community, helping thousands gain greater access to justice and essential legal assistance to improve their lives.

Position Duties

  • Greets, meets with, and screens applicants and clients by phone, electronically, and in person.
  • Completing conflict checks, prescreens, and intakes.
  • Determining eligibility for services.
  • Scheduling intake appointments and meeting with applicants/clients.
  • Completing intakes in case management system either by communicating with applicants via telephone, electronically, or in-person.
  • Answering phone calls and promptly returning phone calls and/or emails.
  • Following up on referrals from all units, organizations, agencies, and online intake applications.
  • Maintaining records, case notes, and daily timekeeping in CCLA’s case management system.
  • Explaining intake/compliance documents.
  • Performing community outreach events in-person and virtually, as well as, on social media, and conducting educational trainings for staff, clients, and community providers, as needed.

Position Requirements

  • Associate’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Relevant work experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
  • One to five years of related experience preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong accuracy skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently, both independently and under supervision.
  • Professional demeanor with a strong client-service focus.
  • Commitment and passion for serving low-income and underserved communities.

  • Successfully passed a background check prior to employment.

Pay

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday at the CCLA satellite intake office located at the Broward County 17th Judicial Circuit Courthouse (201 SE 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301).
