About the Role

This position supports a national counsel team in the management of personal injury and property damage cases relating to the minimum financial responsibility (MFR) limits mandated by applicable state law. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle a nationwide docket of cases. Candidates must be adept at leveraging technology, including AI, and willing to learn Firm-approved tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to attorneys in all aspects of MFR claim management and litigation, including fact investigation, medical record review, docketing, case deadline management, and drafting litigation documents and client reporting.
• Prepare materials for and assist in preparation for depositions, hearings, trials, and related proceedings; attend as needed.
• Prepare draft pleadings and discovery.
• Coordinate filing of pleadings/documents and arrange for service.
• Collect and summarize medical and/or other records.
• Assist with calendaring/docketing.
• Work with attorneys in multiple offices.
• Maintain professional demeanor and attitude.
• Comply with firm policies.
• Sustain attention to detail and quality of work.
• Develop technical proficiency in database use and management, internet/electronic research, and project folder/electronic file maintenance.
• Independently organize and manage files.
• Anticipate attorney needs.
• Handle all key duties without supervision of another Paralegal or Senior Paralegal.
• Demonstrate familiarity and experience with adopting legal AI; ability to learn and implement new AI tools preferred.
• Meet billable hour requirement of 1500 hours per year.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of experience with automobile insurance defense, including minimum financial responsibility.
• Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s degree in a law-related field, or Associate’s degree and paralegal training.
• Significant, substantive legal-related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education at the discretion of the Managing Director.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with skill and experience. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

• State of California: $86,000 - $139,000
• State of Colorado: $75,000 - $119,000
• State of Illinois: $64,000 - $125,000
• State of Maryland: $73,000 - $107,000
• State of Massachusetts: $85,000 - $130,000
• State of Minnesota: $75,000 - $111,000
• Jersey City, NJ: $78,000 - $114,000
• State of New York: $66,000 - $125,000
• State of Washington: $88,000 - $134,000
• Washington, DC: $94,000 - $138,000

The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus. Bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed and dependent upon individual and firm performance.
