Responsibilities
- Conduct client intakes and assist with gathering relevant case information.
- Provide general support to attorneys in preparation for hearings and court proceedings.
- Draft legal documents, correspondence, and other written materials.
- Maintain and organize case files, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Track deadlines, court dates, and case activities using case management systems.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, including those in crisis or under stress.
- Cook up referrals to community resources and partner organizations as appropriate.
- Aid in data collection and reporting requirements.
- Support outreach efforts and community education activities.
- Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and external partners across multiple offices.
- Attend court proceedings with clients and/or attorneys as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (legal studies, paralegal studies, etc.) or equivalent experience.
- At least one year of relevant experience in a legal setting, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with case management software.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of civil legal issues and procedures.
- Understanding of legal ethics and confidentiality.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
