Paralegal

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client intakes and assist with gathering relevant case information.
  • Provide general support to attorneys in preparation for hearings and court proceedings.
  • Draft legal documents, correspondence, and other written materials.
  • Maintain and organize case files, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Track deadlines, court dates, and case activities using case management systems.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, including those in crisis or under stress.
  • Cook up referrals to community resources and partner organizations as appropriate.
  • Aid in data collection and reporting requirements.
  • Support outreach efforts and community education activities.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and external partners across multiple offices.
  • Attend court proceedings with clients and/or attorneys as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (legal studies, paralegal studies, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in a legal setting, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with case management software.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of civil legal issues and procedures.
  • Understanding of legal ethics and confidentiality.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
