Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide litigation support management, including responding to discovery requests, issuing litigation holds and record preservation notices, coordinating eDiscovery, maintaining litigation trackers, and preparing and analyzing case materials;
- Docket intellectual property matters and respond to corresponding data requests;
- Conduct legal research, analyze issues, and summarize findings to support attorneys;
- Manage MITRE’s collections process for departing employees with outstanding balances, such as negative PTO, relocation expenses, or tuition reimbursement;
- Manage responses to subpoenas and other requests or demands from government agencies and third parties, including employment and business records requests, garnishments, and other court or administrative orders;
- Cook up responses to Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs);
- Build strong, collaborative working relationships with MITRE attorneys, Office of General Counsel operations staff, and colleagues across the organization;
- Work in partnership across the enterprise to implement processes, systems and tools that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of MITRE's Office of General Counsel;
- Undertake special projects as assigned to provide legal and administrative support to the Office of General Counsel.
Basic Qualifications
- Typically requires a minimum of 1 year of related experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent in education, or equivalent combination of high school courses and related work experience
- 1+ years’ experience working as a paralegal
- Ability to lead small projects, monitor progress, and take ownership of assignments with accountability and sound professional judgment
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to conduct legal research and perform first-level review of legal documents
- Experience organizing, tracking, and maintaining files related to legal matters and transactions with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, integrity, discretion, and a commitment to strict confidentiality
- Commitment to continuous learning, process improvement, adaptability, and identifying new solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of paralegal/legal assistant experience at a law firm, preferably supporting litigation
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Paralegal Certificate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly, directly, and professionally
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills, with keen attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a client-service orientation and the ability to work effectively with attorneys, team members, vendors, third parties, and employees at all levels
